Educational, emotional, and social support for children and parents in the Pirita community

The “Atelier” Day Center is a safe and inclusive space where children and parents from the Pirita community receive ongoing support for education, health, counseling, personal development, and social integration.

We operate under an official license and with a multidisciplinary team — including a coordinator, social worker, educational staff, a medical assistant, and local and international volunteers.

The mission of the center is to offer children a place where they feel heard, respected, and valued, and to provide parents with the resources they need to support their children with confidence.

What we do at the “Atelier” Day Center

Educational support

We provide children with:
  • after-school activities and non-formal education;
  • homework support, literacy development, and remedial learning activities;
  • close collaboration with schools to prevent early school dropout;
  • the development of social, emotional, and prosocial skills.
In 2024, all enrolled children remained in school, with no cases of dropout.

Personal and emotional development

Children take part in:
  • art, music, movement, and cooperative play workshops;
  • self-awareness activities, emotional regulation, and self-esteem building;
  • exercises aimed at developing confidence and social skills.

Counseling and support for parents

Parents benefit from:
  • individual and group counseling;
  • support in their relationship with schools and public institutions;
  • development of parenting skills and the assumption of family roles;
  • information on child health, protection, and development.

Life skills activities

Children learn:
  • personal hygiene, healthy nutrition, and safety;
  • basic resource management;
  • assertive communication;
  • responsibility and autonomy.

Socialization and leisure activities

The center provides children with experiences they would not otherwise have access to:
  • trips, outdoor games, and thematic workshops;
  • birthday celebrations for every child;
  • educational campaigns on environmental protection;
  • intercultural activities with international volunteers.

Our partners

Partnerships are essential to the functioning of the center:
  • “Aurel Vlaicu” Technical College (space)
  • ERIKS (main funder)
  • Ameropa Foundation, Love2Share, Team for Youth, HXP Association
  • DGASPC, DAS Baia Mare (social cases, transportation, medical support)
  • Food Bank, “All Children Read,” and other national partners

These collaborations allow us to provide integrated, coherent, and continuous services.

Why continued support is still needed

The report clearly shows that families in the Pirita community face discrimination, limited access to services, health challenges, and poor living conditions.

Without consistent support, children risk exclusion, absenteeism, illness, and disengagement from school.

The “Atelier” Day Center remains a vital anchor — the only space offering education, safety, counseling, and emotional stability for dozens of children and parents.

Help us be there every day

With the support of donors, we can continue to:
  • keep the center open;
  • cover educational costs;
  • support vulnerable families;
  • expand programs for adolescents and parents;
  • prevent exclusion and school dropout.

Every contribution ensures the continuity of a place where children are seen, heard, and supported in reaching their full potential.
