How We Work

Our Approach

For over ten years, we have been present in Pirita every day, working alongside the community to build a safe path for the children growing up here.

We believe that real change begins with relationships, not just services, and that every step taken together strengthens a child’s chance of not being left on the margins.

We work at the heart of the community

For us, a child cannot be separated from their family or their context. That is why we intervene directly within the community, alongside parents, children, grandparents, young people, and local leaders.

We build relationships based on trust, respect, and active listening, allowing families to freely express their needs, fears, and hopes.

This openness is the foundation of all our programs.

We deliver integrated, long-term interventions

Each program we implement responds to a real need and is designed for continuity. Over the past ten years, we have developed a set of interventions that support children across all the areas essential to their development:

Education and prevention of school dropout

• after-school and remedial programs
• support for school enrollment and retention
• school transport and mediation with educational institutions

Health and hygiene

• monitoring the health of infants
• access to community medical services
• shower facilities and hygiene support

Support for families

• parental counseling
• targeted material support
• temporary emergency housing
• programs for parents in vulnerable situations (parents in prison, mothers with babies)

Personal and social development

• socialization, play, and leisure activities
• programs for girls, focused on courage and self-confidence
• civic education and gardening (Pirita Garden, School in the Garden)

We collaborate with institutions, NGOs, and volunteers

Change cannot happen in isolation. That is why we work in partnership with:

• schools, kindergartens, and the “Aurel Vlaicu” Technical College;
• local authorities and public services;
• organizations such as STEA, ERIKS, Love2Share, Zi de Bine, Concordia, READ;
• local volunteers and professionals.

These collaborations have made projects possible such as:“School in the Garden,” “Safe Start for Pirita Babies,” “School of Courage,” “Humanitarian Aid for Pirita,” “I Can Too!”, “Pirita Garden,” and many others.

We create real opportunities

Our work in the community has led to:

• increased access to education, identity documents, and medical services;
• improved living conditions and hygiene;
• stable programs for children, adolescents, and parents;
• reduced discrimination and stigmatization from the wider community;
• increased trust among families and their ability to support their children.

We are here for the long term

Our intervention is not short-term and does not aim for quick fixes.
We are consistently present in the life of the community, growing alongside families and children.
